Dratri Tribe

Beliefs: The stories of the originThe Dratri Tribe began its history like many other steppe tribes during the early ages of the Xaela. What made their tribe unique was that they believed father Azim and mother Nhaama, were actually great dragon spirits that birthed the au ra to fight for them in their war for domination. They believed they were given the form of men because men were small and agile, and they could better grasp weapons in which to use against their enemies. But much like the other tribes, their stories say that when the children of the two great wyrms came together in peace and love, the two wyrm too fell in love and decided to give the world to their children, thus did they fly high into the heavens, never to see each other again, for Azim became the sun, and Nhaama the moon. And thus did the Dratri live with the beliefs of love of fellow Au Ra, for they saw in all life, kindred spirits. They believed every creature's soul was that of a great dragon spirit. And around them, the very elements around them too, were dragon spirits, of lesser nature. Thus they prayed to the spirits they named and gave form:
The Dragon of Air was a great serpentine dragon that swam through the air greating the breeze
The Dragon of Water was also a serpentine dragon that sent forth water, creating lakes and rivers.
The Dragon of Fire was said to be a great red dragon that blessed the land with warmth and the gift of fire so that they may keep warm and cook their meats and light the dark.
The Dragon of Earth is said to be a great wingless drake that burrows beneath the very land it represents, creating life, such as the plants, and absorbing the bodies of the fallen so that they may be reborn anew.
The Dragon of Light is without form, for his radiance is blinding and thus none can behold his true nature.
The Dragon of Darkness, much like light, is without form, and resides within the shadows and dark places. It is not evil, it merely is the balance to the Dragon of Light.
The Dragon of Chaos too, is without form, this one being of unpredictable nature, as it is essentially, time. It creates the events of every second of every day in unpredictable ways to challenge life and makes the world about interesting in many ways.
Origins: Azim SteppesWhile the Dratri's history began much like the other tribes, the true history has long been forgotten, replaced instead, with the origin stories. What is known though is that some thousand years ago, a great black dragon came to the Azim Steppes, and her great form became the banner of the Dratri Tribe. Even back then, the tribe was small, yet relatively peaceful much like the Mol. They often traded with the other tribes but also intermingled with the Domans. It was not unheard of for a member of the Dratri Tribe to also marry a Doman. Even the Doman naming convention was adopted after a sort by the tribe. However the other tribes viewed the Dratri with disdain, and impure, leading to attacks by the various other larger tribes forcing the Dratri to flee into the mountains towards Doma. However when Garlemald began its invasion of Doma, the Dratri followed the Orl, leaving the Azim Steppes behind they traveled west, to Abalathia's Spine. The Great Migration: Coming to IshgardWhen the tribes began their migration, they passed through the burn, and through the southern tips of Garlemald, avoiding detection until at last they came to Abalathia's Spine. The Orl tribe at this time, had gone far ahead of the slower Dratri Tribe, and thus when the Dratri beheld Ishgardian soldiers slaughtering the poor Orl, they chose another route around Coerthas and soon found themselves in the mountains of Dravania.Founding of the Village: There be Dragons! The Dratri soon found themselves in a clearing on the largest mountain of Dravania, with Sohm Al rising high above them, they founded their village in secret. They beheld the dragons in the distance, and knew they waged war with the men of Ishgard, and thus wished to remain out of the war.And they succeeded for the most part, living in peace for 15 years, until a wounded dragon fell from the sky into their village, landing on a yurt crushing the occupants inside. A single girl, Akayuki, climbed from the rubble, taking hold of the spear that wounded the dragon and removed it. The tribe shaman then approached the wyrm, offering to heal his wounds. Surprised that the village existed, and that the inhabitants were friendly and did not fear him, he allowed them to cast their healing magics upon him. This dragon, spoke to the tribe elder, telling the story of how Ishgard had betrayed the dragons a thousand years ago, and thus beginning the Dragonsong war. The elder told the dragon then, that while they sympathized with the dragons, they wished to remain out of the war, but should Ishgard find their village and attack, only then would they join the dragons. The dragon understood this and and learned more of their culture, remarking how the Valkyrie of the tribe, moved much like Ishgard's dragoons, and how they could shape aether into the form of great serpentine dragons for the telling of their tales. The dragon soon left the village in peace, allowing the tribe to live their lives.
